Exhaust gas standard Euro 7
The keyword “Euro 7 emissions standard” is well known throughout the automotive industry. In short, it means that the European Union will further tighten the legal requirements for emission limits. Meeting these new requirements demands increased efforts from every OEM. SEGULA Technologies offers its customers holistic and manufacturer-specific solutions for optimising fuel consumption and emissions in line with current and upcoming legislation. This includes services around development, integration, calibration, application, validation, homologation, type approval as well as test and measurement in the field of emission testing.
We develop and determine emission and energy consumption values with very low limits for drives and components of today and tomorrow. This is done on our roller test benches as well as in a modern climatic altitude chamber and directly on the road.
In the lab
In order to comply with low emission limits, measurement methods and refined measuring equipment are necessary that sensitively record the emission parameters. SEGULA Technologies has already made significant investments in measurement technology in anticipation of Euro 7 in order to be able to determine the required exhaust emission values with minimal tolerances.
Our measurement equipment includes, for example, particle counters that can measure particles down to a lower limit of 10 nanometres. In addition, we have analysers with quantum cascade laser technology for simultaneous, continuous and undiluted measurement of the nitrogenous exhaust gas components NO, NO2, N2O and NH3. In addition, three further diluted laser analysers for N2O have been integrated into our exhaust gas measurement systems. This enables us to measure the exhaust gas components of the engines already in use in accordance with very low emission limits (Euro7) on three roller test benches in compliance with the law. In addition, multi-component infrared analysers (FTIR) are used to measure more than 20 different exhaust gas parameters – a procedure that enables rapid exhaust gas tests accompanying development.
On the road
When it comes to exhaust gas measurements on the road, we can measure exhaust gas concentrations according to the specifications of current legislation with our PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement System) measurements.
In addition, our emissions experts come up trumps with the specially developed and patented measurement tool called Cardea. It is used for the precise determination of gaseous emissions for the measurement of exhaust gas concentrations in full flow (without time delay and after reactions).
This also applies to the future requirements for Euro 7 as well as emissions from hydrogen drives.
Cardea: In-situ exhaust gas measuring system for the test bench and for real drives
With the Cardea measurement system developed by SEGULA Technologies, robust measurements can be carried out to determine real-world emissions – both on the test bench and on real drives with a wide range of scenarios.

Shaping future mobility with new exhaust gas purification technologies
We apply our range of services for the optimisation of pollutant emissions and exhaust gas standard compliance to diesel and petrol engines and their hybrid variants. We implement tests for alternative fuels and are experts in hybrid applications, charging balances and range tests for BEV applications. In addition, we offer solutions for alternative / synthetic fuels up to fuel cell integration and also keep an eye on the CO2 fleet balance as well as the range optimisation of an individual model.
