Catalin Ursache takes over the management of SEGULA Romania

Paris, 21 January 2022 – The global engineering group SEGULA Technologies announces the appointment of Catalin Ursache as Managing Director of SEGULA Romania.

Catalin Ursache holds a MEng in Software and Digital Communications from the Transylvania University of Brasov and started his career as a software developer. He then held the positions of Business Unit Manager and Global Key Account Manager at Siemens, before joining Atos Romania as General Manager and Country Manager.

Catalin Ursache will use his extensive experience in the digital and software sector to support the digital transformation of the Group’s activities and that of its major clients. His objective will be to deploy SEGULA’s full range of capabilities in new industrial sectors and to position the Group as a leader in the design and industrialisation of embedded systems.

Cătălin Ursache will be responsible for the consolidated management of all the activities of SEGULA Group in Romania, and is supported by Mihai Pavel, General Manager of automotive engineering activities, and Dragoș Bărăscu, General Manager of tooling manufacturing and line assembly activities.

SEGULA Technologies has been operating in Romania for almost 20 years, supporting its clients in the automotive, aerospace, railway and naval sectors. Following several years of solid growth, the group now has 750 employees in five sites:

  • In Bucharest, where the administrative headquarter is located, holding the greater part of the engineering staff.
  • Around Pitesti in three locations: a design office, a rolling shop in Stefanesti, and a tooling factory in Mioveni.
  • In Brasov, where a design office operates.

Conducting a very wide range of activities, SEGULA Technologies offers its clients expertise ranging from the design and testing of vehicles and engines, to electronics, and to the manufacturing of tooling and of robotic assembly lines.

In Romania, the Group is recognised and appreciated by its local and international clients for the high quality of the services provided and for its capacity to autonomously manage from Romania complex projects delivered by international teams. In line with the needs of its customers, the Group has also adopted a pioneering position in electromobility.

To support this solid growth, SEGULA Romania plans to recruit 300 engineers in 2022 and up to 500 per year over the next three years. The targeted profiles include project managers in the field of vehicles and engines, vehicle architects, software architects and designers, specialists in thermal, acoustic and aerodynamic simulation, and data management specialists.

Adrien Guillemin, Director of the Offshore Delivery Centres Division at SEGULA: “The arrival of Catalin Ursache is excellent news for all SEGULA employees and customers in Romania! This will strengthen a high-level management team that has the ambition to become a major player in mechanical engineering and software. With Catalin, we are continuing a great story that began almost 20 years ago in Romania. We now have the capacity to pilot engineering projects from Romania for many international clients. We will continue to invest in Romania and to recruit experts in all areas related to the development and industrialisation of automotive and rail vehicles, with a strong focus on electromobility.”
