Fast-growing engineering group SEGULA Technologies Australia appoints Brett Vivian as new Managing Director

Global engineering group SEGULA Technologies has appointed Brett Vivian as Managing Director of SEGULA Technologies Australia, effective 1 September 2024. The appointment marks a key step in the group's strategic development in Australia.

 

Global engineering group SEGULA Technologies has appointed Brett Vivian as Managing Director of SEGULA Technologies Australia, effective 1 September 2024. The appointment marks a key step in the group’s strategic development in Australia.

 

Brett Vivian has over 30 years’ experience in the engineering and technology sectors, with proven expertise in strategic leadership, business development and managing large teams. A graduate of Cranfield University in the UK and the University of Melbourne, he began his career as an engineering officer in the Royal Australian Air Force before joining General Motors, where he held senior positions including Executive Director of Engineering, overseeing the carmaker’s engineering operations in Australia and Thailand, and leading a large engineering design team based in South Korea.

SEGULA Technologies Australia set up as an engineering services provider in 2017 in Sydney. Following strong growth, the group has expanded its presence by basing its Asia-Pacific Headquarters in Melbourne, and more recently opening an office in Perth. The group now has 130 employees and is positioned as a key engineering player in the automotive, rail and defence sectors.

 

SEGULA Technologies Australia is actively involved in the automotive sector, supporting major manufacturers and suppliers in their transition to electric vehicles with projects focused on new vehicle architectures, component design and systems integration. The Australian subsidiary also stands out for its expertise in the conversion from LHD (Left-Hand Drive) to RHD (Right-Hand Drive).

 

In the rail and defence sectors, SEGULA Technologies Australia supports its clients in the design of their products and means of industrialisation. In particular, SEGULA has contributed directly to key rail projects in Australia such as system upgrades to trams and Vlocity trains in Victoria, engineering and design of Queensland’s New-Generation Rollingstock fleet, and signalling and train control system upfits to track maintenance machines and hi-rail vehicles.   In Sydney New South Wales, SEGULA has contributed to the testing and commissioning of European Train Control System (ETCS) upgrades to the Tangara fleet. SEGULA is contributing to the conceptual design of a battery-powered locomotive in Western Australia.

 

Together with its International SEGULA partners, SEGULA Technologies Australia is continuing to develop international partnerships to meet the needs of its Australian and overseas based customers. SEGULA Technologies Australia is looking to expand its engineering and designer workforce during 2025.
