- What is your professional background?
I joined the SEGULA Group in December 2020 as a Procurement Manager for the Alpine Group. My role was to manage the needs of the lower engine, mainly pumps, as well as catalogue parts, known as manufactured parts. My objective was to ensure the integrity of the supply chain, from the expression of the need to the availability of the parts in the shops while respecting the budget set by the Project Manager.
In September 2021, an internal advert was published offering an international mobility to Canada. Having already a work visa for this destination and motivated by this adventure, I proposed my application which was then accepted.
- What is your background?
I studied Logistics and Transport at Huddersfield Business School in the UK. For the last five years, my career has been focused on the automotive sector, in France and internationally: USA – Spain – Canada.
- Tell us about your new position at SEGULA Canada?
I am a Project Manager in the manufacturing engineering team of the Nova Bus group, a subsidiary of Volvo for the bus sector. My role is to analyse, propose and implement work methods in order to reduce non-value added, sources of waste and risks of accidents. This is done by synchronizing operations and preparing contracts that will allow the coordination of all aspects of manufacturing engineering with other departments in the plant.
- How did this mobility work out?
Everything went very well. I was well supported upstream by the Career Management and Mobility Manager. She helped me make the transition from the France unit to SEGULA Canada. Downstream, I also received help from the Business Manager in Canada for the administrative and contractual part. He also gave me practical advice on how to set up my business in Canada.
- What did you get out of it?
This international geographical mobility has allowed me to give a new impetus to my career. It is also a real springboard that will allow me to solidify and confirm my professional experience in North America. The added value in learning the technical aspects of the bus sector is also a plus.
- What advice would you give to your colleagues?
International mobility does not only impact on the professional aspect, it is a life choice that requires making concessions and especially reviewing one’s priorities. You have to be ready to question yourself, to start from scratch, and to see things with a new eye. You have to be daring and have the courage to rewrite a new life story.
I would strongly recommend anyone to try international mobility if you are willing to evolve in a new working environment and to open your horizons in search of a new culture.
- How would you describe your position as a woman in a sector often associated with men?
This type of sector shows that the organisation is not always an open and accessible space where success is based solely on competence, will and personal effort. The balance of power is still very androcentric. Despite much progress, the fact remains that in order to break down prejudices and doctrines, women must do more than men. For those who are not tolerant, they must be forced to question their vision. Working in a predominantly male environment is still pleasant, most men are open-minded, so the exchange is pleasant.
- What make the difference with SEGULA Technologies
